NetID - Login Information
This document explains logging into your NetID for the first time and shows how to reset the password if you can't remember it.
The NetID is a way for current students and staff or retired faculty or staff to log into computers on campus, as well as for gaining access to a number of other campus systems. Before logging in, please read the UW System Acceptable Use policy.

First Time Logging In:
Before logging in with your NetID for the first time, you must activate/change your password before you can log into any systems with your NetID.
NetID Activation/Change Password
You can change your password one of two ways:
- Through the website NetID Password Change page
- Directly from a campus computer at the Login Screen
From the Password Change Page
Use the following link to get to the NetID Password Change Page, which will open a page that looks similar to what is below.
- Enter your NetID username do not include the @uwosh.edu (I don't know my NetID username, see NetID - What is my User Name? )
- Enter your 7-digit ID number
- Enter your New Password (make sure it says Acceptable password to the right of the box)
- Enter your New Password Again (make sure it says Passwords match to the right of the box)
- Click the Change Password button
- You should see a screen that your NetID has been changed successfully
- If you click the Change Password button and you get an error message in a red box like the one below, then either the NetID username or the 7-digit ID number is incorrect.

From the Login Screen on a campus computer
- Select CTR+ALT+Delete on your keyboard
- Enter your NetID username do not include the @uwosh.edu (I don't know my NetID username, see NetID - What is my User Name? )
- Enter your 7-digit ID number as the current password
- Click the arrow to the right
- A message will come up that says you must change your password
- Click the arrow
- A new window will open that gives you a box 3rd box to enter your new password (remember your current password is your 7 digit campus ID number)
- Remember to verify that you're meeting all the requirements on the right
- Re-enter the new password again
- Select the arrow
- It should say changing password and then log you into the computer
Forgot NetID Password
If you have previously logged into your NetID and have forgotten your password.
Use Self-Service Password Reset to recover it.
