Adobe Acrobat - Editing Scanned Documents

This guide will show you how to edit text and graphics when the file is not a PDF.This document gives you the basic structure of a How To template

Sometimes the a document which needs to be edited is not a PDF. Acrobat is still able to be used in this scenario.

  1. Select File > Open. Navigate to where the image/document is located.
    • If the image/document isn’t showing up, make sure to change the search option from just Adobe PDF Files, to All Files.
  2. Once the document/image has opened in the workspace, select Edit PDF from the Tools Pane.
  3. Acrobat will automatically run Optical Character Recognition, or OCR. This will try to figure out the closest possible typeface to coincide with what the image/document already has and turn the image into text boxes and graphics.
    • Sometimes the typeface will not be close enough. It may be easier to change the entire typeface of the text than to only perform edits/additions.
  4. Make the required edits.
