NetID - Login Information

This document explains logging into your NetID for the first time and shows how to reset the password if you can't remember it.

The NetID is a way for current students and staff or retired faculty or staff to log into computers on campus, as well as for gaining access to a number of other campus systems.

A few of the systems that use NetID are:

First Time Logging In:

Before logging in with your NetID for the first time, you must activate/change your password before you can actually log into any systems with your NetID.

NetID Activation/Change Password

You can change your password one of two ways:

From the Password Change Page

  1. Use the following link to get to the NetID Password Change Page, which will open a page that looks similar to what is below

  1. Enter your NetID username do not include the @uwosh.edu (I don't know my NetID username, see NetID - What is my User Name )
  2. Enter your 7-digit ID number
  3. Enter your New Password (make sure it says Acceptable password to the right of the box)
  4. Enter your New Password Again (make sure it says Passwords match to the right of the box)
  5. Click the Change Password button
  6. You should see a screen that your NetID has been changed successfully
    • If you click the Change Password button and you get an error message in a red box like the one below, then either the NetID username or the 7-digit ID number is incorrect.

From the Login Screen on a campus computer

  1. Select CTR+ALT+Delete on your keyboard
  2. Enter your NetID username do not include the @uwosh.edu (I don't know my NetID username, see NetID - What is my User Name )
  3. Enter your 7-digit ID number as the current password
  4. Click the arrow to the right
  5. A message will come up that says you must change your password
  6. Click the arrow
  7. A new window will open that gives you a box 3rd box to enter your new password (remember your current password is your 7 digit campus ID number)
    • New Password Requirements
      • At least 7 Characters Long
      • Can not contain the user name
      • Can not be the same as the old password
      • Must contain characters from at least 3 of the following sets:
        • Upper Case (A-Z)
        • Lower Case (a-z)
        • Numbers (0-9)
        • Special characters (!@#$%^&*_+,-./?~)
  8. Re-enter the new password again
  9. Select the arrow
  10. It should say changing password and then log you into the computer

Forgot NetID Password

If you have previously logged into your NetID and have forgotten your password.

  1. Use this link to recover it.  (This Self Service password reset can be accessed from any NetID login page)
  2. An email will be sent to your campus email with instructions on how to reset the password.

Change NetID Password

If you know your current NetID password and would like to change it, follow the instructions for First Time Login and enter your current password instead of your 7-digit ID number.

Important Note:  Anytime you change your NetID password make sure to update your wireless mobile device(s) password for TitanWifi.  If this is not updated it may attempt to connect to Titan Wifi with your old password and lock you out of your account.
