Submission views control the ability for students to review the results of a quiz. Instructors can choose to allow students to see the questions they answered incorrectly, question feedback and if desired, the correct answers to questions.

Submission views control the ability for students to review the results of a quiz. Instructors can choose to allow students to see the questions they answered incorrectly, question feedback and if desired, the correct answers to questions.

Written Instructions

  1. Click Other Tools > Quizzes from the Navigation.

  2. Click the Quiz Title you want to edit.

  3. Click on the Submission Views tab at the top of the page.Submission Views and their properties will be displayed.

    • The default view is automatically included. The default determines what students see immediately upon submitting their quiz. To modify the default click the blue Default View title.

    • To release results at a later time (Example: after everyone has completed the quiz) click the "Add Additional View"button. 

  4. Complete fields as desired. 

    • Name: give the new view a name.

      NOTE: this field is only available when creating an additional view.

    • Message (optional): a message to students

    • Date: the date field determines the day and time the students can see the results to there quiz . 

      NOTE: this field is only available when creating an additional view.

    • Show questions: if you chose yes additional option are available. 

      • Show questions answered incorrectly: results return ONLY the questions the student answered incorrectly.

      • Show questions answered correctly: results return ONLY the question the student answered correctly. 

      • Show all questions,with out a user response:shows all questions the option the student chose is not included in the results.

      • Show all questions , with user response : shows all questions the option the student chose is included in the results .

      • Show question answers: the correct answer is included with the question.

      • Show question score out of score: reveals the points awarded for each question. (example: if partial credit is awarded the student may receive one out of two points)

    • Show attempt score and over all attempt score: shows total quiz score. 

    • Show class average: shows the average score of the class.

    • Show score distribution: shows the number of students that received a partial score (example: 4 A's,6B's,8C's,4D's) .

  5. Click Save.

Troubleshooting Tips

Submission views are only released once a quiz has been published.  To automatically publish the quiz, make sure "Allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion" is checked (option is included on Quiz Assessment tab).

If you want additional controls over when feedback and/or grades are available to students, you can manually publish quizzes.  Click Quizzes from the Navigation.  Click the dropdown next to the appropriate quiz and select Grade.  A list of students and their attempts will appear.  Click the checkbox next to each attempt under the Published column.  Click Save.  (Note: you can click the Published icon at the top to select all.)
