Accounts - User Name Change Request

This document explains the process of requesting a user name change for employee or student NetID and TitanApps accounts.

Type of User Name Changes

User Name Changes are usually requested because of the following change

  • The individual changes their first and/or last name
  • The individual becomes staff after or while currently a student

Name Change

For first and/or last name changes

Employees

  1. Employees must request their official name change through the Human Resources Office first
  2. Once the official name change has been processed by Human Resources then you can request a user name change from Information Technology by emailing helpdesk@uwosh.edu or calling 920-424-3020 or visiting Dempsey 207.

Students

  1. Students must request their official name change through the Registrars Office first
  2. Once the official name change has been processed by the Registrars Office then they can request a user name change from Information Technology by emailing helpdesk@uwosh.edu or calling 920-424-3020 or visiting Dempsey 207

What will Automatically Change from the Name Change Request

  • First and last names in email and NetID accounts will automatically change a day after the update has been done by the respective department.

What will not Automatically change from the Name Change Request

  • The user name for you email and NetID will not automatically change

Requesting a User Name Change

Because of first and/or last name change

After the official name change is processed you can do the following to request a user name change from Information Technology

  1. Contact the Information Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@uwosh.edu or 920-424-3020 letting them know you would like a user name change
Important Note:  In order for Information Technology to put this user name change request in, your official name change must have been processed by the respective department first.

Included the following information for first and/or last name changes:

  • What your previous name was
  • What your current name is

Because of status change/addition from student to staff

  1. Contact the Information Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@uwosh.edu or 920-424-3020 letting them know you would like a user name change to a staff user name account
Important Note:  In order for Information Technology to put this user name change request in, your hiring paper work must have been processed through Human Resources first.
