Adobe Acrobat - PDFs in Microsoft Office

This guide will show you how the Acrobat tool works inside Microsoft Office on PC and how to save PDFs from Office on both PC and Mac.

Microsoft Word (PC)

The Acrobat tools available for creating PDFs in Word is extensive. Audio and Video can be added to a PDF. Protections, bookmarks, and notes can all be added just like in Acrobat. There are many preferences available to be changed and are explained in the attached video.
  1. Select the Acrobat menu item from the tabs.
  2. Select Create PDF from the Acrobat toolbar. 
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save

Microsoft Word (Mac)

  1. Go to File > Save As.
  2. Select PDF from the Format list menu.
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save.

Microsoft PowerPoint (PC)

The Acrobat tools in PowerPoint are available to try and best keep the authenticity of the PowerPoint presentation. While not all functions and transitions are the same, the value of a PDF presentation is worth losing the small functionality. There are many preferences available to be changed and are explained in the attached video.
  1. Select the Acrobat menu item from the tabs.
  2. Select Create PDF from the Acrobat toolbar.
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save.

Microsoft PowerPoint (Mac)

  1. Go to File > Save As.
  2. Select PDF from the Format list menu.
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save.

Microsoft Excel (PC)

The Acrobat tools in Excel include the ability to comment like in the Word Acrobat tools. The downside to a PDF spreadsheet is the inability to change formulas. There are many preferences available to be changed and are explained in the attached video.
  1. Select the Acrobat menu item from the tabs.
  2. Select Create PDF from the Acrobat toolbar.
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save.

Microsoft Excel (Mac)

  1. Go to File > Save As.
  2. Select PDF from the Format list menu.
  3. Name your file and select location.
  4. Select Save.
