Adobe Acrobat - Exporting to Microsoft Office

This guide will show you how to properly export PDFs to Microsoft office where there are special tools for editing Acrobat PDFs in those programs.

Acrobat has built in export to Microsoft office programs. It works best if the documents were originally created in the Microsoft Office programs, but it will save to these file formats either way.

  1. Go to File > Export To > Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  2. Choose the program you want to export it to so it is exported in the correct format.
    1. For both Excel & Word there are two options. Select Word 97-2003 or XML Spreadsheet 2003 if the person who will be seeing the document has an old computer. Select Word Document or Excel Workbook if it’s a newer computer.
    2. Microsoft released the new Word format in 2007, so if the computer is less than 10 years old, it is guaranteed to be able to read the modern format.
  3. Select Save.
