Microsoft Excel 2016 - Using AutoFill

This guide will show you how to use AutoFill to quickly enter certain types of information.


The AutoFill function in excel allows data such as dates, months, quarters, time, and various other things to be automatically filled in by just entering the first part. 

  1. Enter the month of January by typing it into cell A1.
  2. Move the cursor over the bottom right hand side of cell A1 until the black + appears. Left click and drag until the desired time span is hit. AutoFill will show each month that will be added as the drag continues.
  3. To add in the months, release the left mouse button. AutoFill will place the suggested data.
