Typically, when clicking on a link to pdf file on a webpage, the pdf file opens within the web browser window. The following are instructions on how to force pdf files to open within the native Adobe Reader program.

The following are instructions for Adobe Reader 9.0. Other versions of Adobe Reader will require similar steps.

  1. Launch Adobe Reader 9.0.
  2. Open the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  3. On the left hand side of the preferences window, select the Internet category.
