Making clips from videos in the MyMedia editor

Once your videos are uploaded and all the processing is finished, you can start creating your shorter clips that you want to use for your submission.
If you need instructions on how to get your videos into your MyMedia account: Upload videos from Fuse app or Upload from your computer

Launching the MyMedia editor

1. Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Safari) on a computer and go to: https://mymedia.uwosh.edu/
2. In the upper right of the page click LOGIN and then click Login from the drop-down menu
3. Login with your UWO NetID and Password

In the upper right of the page you should now see your name
Click on your name(1) and then click on My Media (2) from the drop-down menu

You should now see a list of all the videos in your account
Click on the name or the still image of the video you want to create your clip(s) from
The video will automatically start playing, so click the pause button in the video window if you want it to stop

Below the right side of the video window you should see an ACTIONS button, click it and select Launch Editor from the drop-down menu.
You should now see the video editing screen you can use to make your video clips

Using the MyMedia editor to create your clips

1. Move the Real Time Marker to the In Point (beginning) of your clip
  • If you know the time you would like to move the Real Time Marker to, you can enter it directly into the time counter below the video preview
  • You can grab and drag (click and hold) the Real Time Marker to a spot in the video
  • The following keyboard controls can help you get more precise placement of the Real Time Marker
    • Play/Pause toggle: Space bar
    • 1 second forward: Right arrow
    • 1 second backward: Left arrow
    • 10 seconds forward: Alt + right arrow
    • 10 seconds backward: Alt + left arrow
2. Set the In Point
  • When you have the Real Time Marker in the spot you'd like to mark as your In Point (beginning) click the Set In icon on the Real Time Marker
  • You can also press the "i" key to set you In Point
  • You will see the left side of the yellow outline of the video timeline shorten up to your In Point
  • You can still adjust/edit your In Point to an earlier spot by grabbing and dragging the thicker yellow "handle" on the left end of the timeline
3.  Set the Out Point
  • Use the same procedure to move the Real Time Marker to the spot you'd like to mark as your Out Point (end) and click the Set Out icon on the Real Time Marker
  • You can also press the "o" key to set your Out Point
  • You can still adjust/edit your Out Point to a later spot by grabbing and dragging the thicker yellow "handle" on the right end of the timeline
4. Save your clip
  • Once you're happy with your In and Out points and are ready to save you clip, in the upper right of the editing screen, click the Save a Copy button
  • DO NOT CLICK THE SAVE BUTTON, that will overwrite the original video instead of saving the clip as an additional video
  • Enter a name for the clip, then press the Create button.
  • Now when you go to your main MyMedia page, you will see your new clipped video at the top of the list. It will need to spend some processing before you are able to watch or download it, refresh the screen occasionally to see if it's finished.
Once the video has finished processing, you can download it to your own PC, click HERE to jump to those instructions.
